Through collaborations with small and rural institutions, NSF AI4OPT is working to foster interdisciplinary advancements in areas like optimization, autonomous robotics, and AI-powered solutions for societal challenges.

  • NSF AI Hub at CAU – Establishing the first AI graduate programs at Clark Atlanta University, empowering students in AI research and education.
  • UTRGV ARISE Project – Advancing autonomous robotics and infrastructure monitoring through AI and optimization in collaboration with UTRGV faculty and students.

Synopsis

The National Science Foundation and its partners support the continued growth of a broad and balanced interdisciplinary research community for the advancement of AI and AI-powered innovation, providing a unique opportunity to broadly promote the NSF vision and core values, especially inclusion and collaboration. The Expanding AI Innovation through Capacity Building and Partnerships (ExpandAI) program aims to significantly broaden participation in AI research, education, and workforce development through capacity development projects and through partnerships within the National AI Research Institutes ecosystem.

Proposals must adhere to NSF's Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide, and updated award terms take effect October 1, 2024. The program hosts regular virtual office hours to assist applicants.

HerWILL has partnered with the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute for Advances in Optimization (AI4OPT) to deliver a series of expert-led workshops on cutting-edge technologies. These programs are designed to help job seekers stay relevant and competitive, equipping them with the skills to thrive across public, private, and academic sectors.

In this collaboration, AI4OPT also hosts competitions and conferences that introduce underrepresented communities to artificial intelligence and advanced technology training. Workshops cover topics such as Generative AI, Network Science in Social Media, Data Meshing, and more.

Expanding our global reach, AI4OPT has organized international Datathons with more than 1,000 participants across 16 countries, fostering innovation and collaboration on a worldwide scale.
