“Artificial intelligence is solving real, large-scale societal problems—which could be transportation, health care decisions or making energy less expensive for everyone. AI is how we can solve these kinds of big issues,” said Kevin Dalmeijer, Managing Director of AI4OPT and Senior Research Associate at Georgia Tech’s H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

The forum showcases real-world applications of AI and optimization that are driving efficiency, resilience, and innovation across sectors. For example, the recent On-Demand Multimodal Transit System project with Chatham Area Transit, which sought to revisit technology available and cost efficiencies by integrating electric mobility, on-demand service, and sustainability, while providing timely and reliable transportation to residents who rely on public transit. In addition, the forum features the integration of AI into K–12 education pathways, preparing the next generation of Georgians to be future-ready.

Attendees will gain insights into:

  • How AI is being deployed in Coastal Georgia’s transportation, manufacturing and logistics sectors
  • Case studies in applicable AI business applications
  • Opportunities for business collaboration with Georgia Tech
  • How AI tools can enhance public sector services through optimization and efficiency
  • Digital twins: what are they and how do they build trust and viable solutions

Attendees are encouraged to bring questions related to their own business strategies or collaborations in transportation, manufacturing and logistics. The event is part of the Georgia Tech-Savannah Learners & Leaders series, a public forum designed to bring thought leadership and applied research insights to regional business and community audiences. Georgia Tech experts host the forum to address timely business topics with local Savannah businesses, industries, and officials.
