Unlocking the Power of AI at an Early Age

The Seth Bonder Summer Camps wrapped up a remarkable two weeks of advanced learning at Georgia Tech this July. Hosted by AI4OPT and CEISMC from July 14–25, 2025, these in person camps challenged experienced high school students to expand their knowledge of deep learning, generative AI, and data driven decision making.

Building on the foundation of SBC’s introductory Levels 1 and 2, these camps were designed for students ready to engage with real world AI tools and concepts. Both weeks offered a hands on, fast paced, and collaborative environment for high schoolers to dive deeper into machine learning and computational thinking.

Building Deep Learning Models from Scratch

Level 3 welcomed high school students from across the region for a weeklong deep dive into the world of operations research and artificial intelligence. The camp offered an immersive and collaborative environment for students with prior Python experience to expand their skills and apply AI to real world problems.

Throughout the week, students advanced through learning modules, selected final projects, and engaged in daily interactive coding sessions using Keras, a Python deep learning library. They also explored Georgia Tech’s research facilities, including the Robotarium and the Hive Makerspace. These experiences provided students with technical training as well as valuable exposure to the tools and environments used by AI professionals.

The camp emphasized both individual growth and teamwork, with structured lessons and guest presentations. By Friday’s showcase, participants developed functional deep learning models to present to family and peers.

Exploring the Frontiers of Generative and Agentic AI

Level 4 wrapped up the 2025 SBC summer series, bringing together some of the program’s most advanced students—including several returning from Level 3 the previous week—for a deep exploration of generative and agentic AI. Students applied their strong foundation in Python, Conda, and Jupyter Notebooks to investigate how intelligent systems can create, adapt, and make autonomous decisions.

Daily activities included advanced coding sessions, mini-projects, and presentations that helped students think critically about the ethical and societal implications of emerging AI technologies. AI4OPT Managing Director Kevin Dalmeijer hosted a Shark Tank inspired session where students pitched ideas for real-world applications of his work.

Building Confidence, Skills, and a STEM Pipeline

The Seth Bonder Camps continue to grow, offering a structured pathway from beginner to advanced AI topics. Supported by the Seth Bonder Foundation, the camps empower high school students to engage deeply with machine learning, data science, and computational problem-solving.
