As artificial intelligence continues to reshape industries and research disciplines, collaboration remains essential to turning new ideas into meaningful impact. That theme was front and center at Georgia Tech's Tech AI Symposium, where AI4OPT Managing Director Kevin Dalmeijer joined fellow campus leaders to discuss how partnerships across the Institute are helping drive AI innovation.
The symposium brought together students, researchers, faculty, industry leaders, and community partners for a day of conversations focused on applied artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, industry collaboration, and the future AI workforce. Through panel discussions, networking opportunities, a student research poster session, and an AI Career Fair, the event showcased Georgia Tech's growing AI ecosystem and the many ways students, researchers, and professionals can engage with it.
Dalmeijer participated in the symposium's opening panel, How Tech AI Collaborates, moderated by Tech AI Managing Director Tim Brown. Joining him were Belinda Vogel, Research Engagement Manager for the Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute and Renewable Bioproducts Institute, and Jeffrey Young, Principal Research Scientist and Co-Director of the Center for Scientific Software Engineering.

The discussion explored how Tech AI connects faculty, researchers, students, and programs across Georgia Tech to address real-world challenges through artificial intelligence. Panelists highlighted opportunities for collaboration, resource sharing, and engagement in AI research, education, and applied projects.
For AI4OPT, the conversation reflected a core aspect of the Institute's mission. As an NSF-funded AI Institute, AI4OPT brings together experts in artificial intelligence, optimization, and operations research to develop solutions for complex challenges across industries and public systems. The Institute's work depends on collaboration among researchers, students, practitioners, and partners who contribute diverse expertise and perspectives.
The symposium also emphasized AI's growing role in workforce development. Discussions throughout the day examined how emerging technologies are transforming industries and how institutions like Georgia Tech can prepare students and professionals for an increasingly AI-enabled future.
Events like the Tech AI Symposium demonstrate the value of bringing together people from different disciplines and backgrounds to share ideas, build partnerships, and create new opportunities for innovation. For AI4OPT, participating in these conversations helps strengthen the connections that translate research into meaningful real-world impact.
