Transforming Decision Making with AI and Optimization

The NSF AI Research Institute for Advances in Optimization (AI4OPT) revolutionizes large-scale decision making by fusing AI and Mathematical Optimization to deliver outcomes outcomes that the two fields cannot achieve independently. AI4OPT is use-inspired and addresses societal challenges in energy systems, supply chains, manufacturing, precision agriculture, and health care. Its methodology thrusts include AI for Optimization, Optimization for AI, Optimization Solvers, Multi-Agent Learning and Optimization, and Ethical AI.

AI4OPT also offers an innovative education and workforce development programs, ranging from K-12 AI Education to the Faculty Training Program that trains faculty in  historically Black and Hispanic-serving schools across the country. AI4OPT features an innovative longitudinal internship program  and a vibrant Industrial Partner Program. The Institute is committed to fostering an inclusive community that emphasizes social mobility and the societal impact of AI.
